About us

➔ Our program operates in the Encanto community to provide local students with the individualized tutoring support they need to achieve at grade level. We partner with Encanto Elementary and engage volunteer tutors to work with students who struggle with literacy. Our volunteers provide 2 tutoring sessions per week, 1 hour each. The school identified students 6 months to 2.5 years below reading level. We love being able to focus on reading and be a part of the school community.

Measurable Benefits

At 68 hours each student, approximately 646 hours of academic time was invested. Our students benefited academically in many ways:

81% demonstrated increased academic confidence by year's end, as recognized by tutors and school teachers.

100% of our students finished the year closer to their target grade level.

All students accelerated in their rate of learning.

School-wide improvement in reading was awarded for all 4th and5th graders.

Immeasurable Benefits

6 tutors interacted with each student for approx. 136 hours over the school year. The social-emotional benefits of this time cannot be measured, but are nevertheless a considerable investment in growth mindset, community-building and student development.

Having a supportive and safe learning environment outside of home and school gives our students further encouragement to achieve and excel.

We begin the school year with the same cooperative partners at Encanto Elementary, the same enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and the same schedules.
