Amanda Garcia, MPH - San Diego State University (Alumni)

Hello, my name is Amanda, and I am a recent graduate from the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at San Diego State University. I am excited to join this discussion and share insights on how we can support student success and career readiness, particularly for those in public health.

While SDSU offers extensive support, there are always areas for improvement. Here are some suggestions based on my experience as an MPH student:

  1. Networking Opportunities: Creating more events and platforms specifically for graduate students to network with public health professionals, alumni, and peers in their field can facilitate valuable connections and mentorship opportunities.
  2. Career Pathway Maps: Develop and distribute career pathway maps for each specialization, outlining potential job titles, necessary qualifications, typical career progression, and salary expectations. This can help students plan their career trajectories more effectively.

I look forward to hearing from others about how their institutions support student success and career readiness and discussing ways we can collectively enhance these efforts!
