  • At this year’s School Summit, explore impactful programs and policies designed to improve student attendance and offer meaningful alternatives to suspension. In Designing Program and Policy to Immediately Improve School Attendance, the San Diego County Office of Education will unpack SB 153, which introduces the Attendance Recovery Program, along with updates to independent study programs that can mitigate absenteeism. Yoalso won't want to miss Suspension for Drugs? How Schools can control the days, time, message, and location,” where you’ll learn from Escondido Union High School District about the Prevention and Diversion Program (PAD), an alternative to suspension program that allows districts to provide education and interventions designed to reduce risky behavior

In “Championing Community-Centered Partnerships,” you’ll hear from the San Ysidro Education Collaborative about their network of partnerships that uplift both schools and the broader community. You can also join Busting through Boundaries: Partnerships that Achieve G.O.A.L.S.,” where the presenters will explore the GOALS MOUinnovative data-sharing practices, and cross-system collaborations currently driving change across the county.

We also hope to see you at Thriving Minds – How Peer-Led Clubs are Improving School Mental Health,” where Bring Change to Mind will share how student-led mental health clubs are reducing stigma, fostering connections, and promoting mental health on campus.
