Student Attendance & Alternatives to Suspension
At this year’s School Summit, explore impactful programs and policies designed to improve student attendance and offer meaningful alternatives to suspension. In “Designing Program and Policy to Immediately Improve School Attendance,” the San Diego County Office of Education will unpack SB 153, which introduces the Attendance Recovery Program, along with updates to independent study programs that can mitigate absenteeism. You also won't want to miss “Suspension for Drugs? How Schools can control the days, time, message, and location,” where you’ll learn from Escondido Union High School District about the Prevention and Diversion Program (PAD), an alternative to suspension program that allows districts to provide education and interventions designed to reduce risky behavior.
We want to hear from you! What do you hope to learn about improving attendance and alternatives to suspension at the School Summit?
Thank you for your contribution!
